許元誠

Sound artist, DJ, and musician working across field recording, sound design, and live performance.

About

Hsu Yuan-Cheng (許元誠) is a Taiwan-based sound artist, DJ, and musician whose practice moves between field recording, sound design, and live performance. His work treats recorded sound — voices, machines, landscapes — as material for both gallery installation and the dance floor.

His ongoing sound library project, Sonic Portrait of Contemporary Taiwan (begun 2024), documents the soundscapes of Taiwan. Excerpts featured in A Vivid Confluence: Tiânn at Civic House, Glasgow (Glasgow School of Art, MLitt Curatorial Practice, August 2026), where Hsu also contributed sound design.

His recent work for dance includes original scores for 事物的變化 (Kono shunkan, 2 May 2026), 蜃景 (Mirage, 7th Stray Birds Dance Platform, 2025), and 迷宮 (MAZE, 6 Sept 2025), all choreographed by Tz-Shiun Jian (簡子勛). He also works as a sound recordist for film and video, most recently on the short film Avenues (University of Sussex, 2026).

Hsu is interested in where documentary listening, club music, and moving image overlap — and in carrying sound across borders without losing what made it specific to where it came from.
